Microplastics in IV Bags: The Shocking Hospital Contamination Risk

Recent scientific studies have shown that plastic IV (intravenous) fluid bags and administration sets can release thousands of microplastic particles directly into the solution, which may then be introduced into a patient's bloodstream during an infusion. One study estimated a single 250-milliliter bag of saline could contain up to 7,500 microplastic particles.
