The US Fort Built in Canada: The Peculiar Story of Fort Montgomery (1816)

After the War of 1812, the US started building Fort Montgomery in 1816 to guard against British attacks, but a survey found it was accidentally built in Canada! Construction stopped, and the site was nicknamed "Fort Blunder." Later, the border was fixed in 1842, and a new Fort Montgomery was built on US soil.
